What goes into the price of a concert

• Set length and character - a 30-minute gala appearance is different work from 90 minutes of firing up a harvest festival crowd.
• Travel and logistics - distance from the band’s base, time on the road, sometimes accommodation for far-away dates.
• Tech - whether the organiser provides a sound system matching the rider, or it has to be brought in.
• The date - peak outdoor season and Saturdays go first and are priced differently from off-season dates.
