A Propabanda Concert Behind the Scenes - from Soundcheck to Encores

An organiser who has not seen us live usually asks the same thing: what does it actually look like? Here is a Propabanda concert from behind the scenes - step by step, from the crew’s arrival to the last encore.

Arrival and load-in

We take the stage at least 60 minutes before the soundcheck. We set up the drums, plug the instruments into our own monitor mixer with a splitter and hand the signals over to the front-of-house engineer - exactly as described in the rider from our media kit.

Soundcheck

A minimum of 30 minutes of soundcheck is the time to set the monitors and the sound of every channel. That is not bureaucracy - it decides whether the trumpet and saxophone will carry across the whole square and the vocal will stay clear in the back row.

The set - from the first hit

Five musicians stand on stage: accordion and vocals, guitar, saxophone and clarinet, trumpet, and drums. We build the set around the event - from a 30-minute high-impact concert opening to 90 minutes of driving a party - and the repertoire mixes Balkan classics like Bubamara and Mesecina with our own wild arrangements. A large part of the set is live improvisation and contact with the audience: we come off the stage, play among the people, build choruses sung together.

After the concert

Encores happen when the audience wants them - and it almost always does. We also stay for photos and conversations; that is often the moment when the next organiser books their date.
